BuddyBoss + GoHighLevel

If you run a BuddyBoss community and a GoHighLevel CRM, they should be one system: a new member becomes a tagged contact, group membership drives automations, and community activity feeds your follow-up. Right now, for most people, BuddyBoss and GoHighLevel don’t know the other exists. Here’s how to connect them so your community becomes a living part of your CRM.

Part of our complete guide to GoHighLevel + WordPress integration.

Why connect BuddyBoss to GoHighLevel?

BuddyBoss runs your community — profiles, groups, feeds, messaging. GoHighLevel runs your marketing and sales. Connected, you get:
Members synced as contacts — every BuddyBoss registration becomes a GoHighLevel contact, automatically
Group membership as tags — joining a group applies a GoHighLevel tag that can trigger a sequence, grant access, or move a pipeline stage
Profile field mapping — BuddyBoss XProfile fields map to GoHighLevel contact fields, so the data you collect on signup is usable in your CRM
Activity-driven automation — community behavior can drive nurture, onboarding, and re-engagement

The official LeadConnector plugin can’t do this — it displays GoHighLevel content but doesn’t sync BuddyBoss data. You need a dedicated sync plugin.

How to set it up

Step 1 — Install HighLevelSync and activate it. BuddyBoss Groups sync is available on the free plan; XProfile field mapping is a Pro feature.
Step 2 — Connect via OAuth 2.0 and select your GoHighLevel location.
Step 3 — Sync members: new BuddyBoss members are created as GoHighLevel contacts with a default tag.
Step 4 — Map groups to tags: joining/leaving a group applies/removes a GoHighLevel tag (e.g., group “VIP Mastermind” → tag group:vip).
Step 5 — Map XProfile fields (Pro): point BuddyBoss profile fields at GoHighLevel contact fields so signup data flows through.
Step 6 — Build the GoHighLevel workflows: welcome-on-join, group-specific nurture, and re-engagement for inactive members.

A community automation worth copying

  1. Member joins your BuddyBoss site → synced to GoHighLevel + tag member
  2. GoHighLevel sends a welcome sequence with community norms and a first-week path
  3. Member joins the “VIP” group → tag group:vip → VIP onboarding sequence
  4. No activity for 14 days → re-engagement nudge (email/SMS)
  5. Member upgrades or renews → tag drives the next stage

That loop turns a community into a retention engine.

Combine it with LearnDash for the full stack

Many BuddyBoss communities also run courses on LearnDash. With both synced to GoHighLevel, course completions and group membership work together — for example, finishing a course adds someone to a graduates’ group and triggers an upsell. See our guide to LearnDash + GoHighLevel.
