Pro Features

Custom Object Contact Associations (Pro)

< 1 min read Updated Jun 6, 2026

Overview

Every GHL Custom Object record can be linked to one or more GHL contacts via associations. This is what makes Custom Objects useful for automation: you can trigger GHL workflows when a specific contact’s associated object record changes.

Association sources

  • Post author: The WordPress user who created the post.
  • Product purchasers: All users who purchased the WooCommerce product.
  • Course students: All users enrolled in a LearnDash course.
  • Lesson students: Users who have accessed a specific lesson.
  • Meta field: A post meta key containing a user ID or contact ID.
  • ACF field: An ACF field referencing a user.

Auto-creating contacts

If a WordPress user linked to a custom object does not yet have a GHL contact, the plugin can auto-create the contact before establishing the association. Enable in the custom object mapping settings.
