The sync loop problem

Without protection, a loop can occur: WordPress pushes to GHL, GHL webhooks back to WordPress, WordPress pushes to GHL again, and so on indefinitely.

How the plugin prevents it

When the plugin receives an inbound webhook for a contact, it sets a 30-second transient keyed to that contact ID. During that window, outbound sync for the same contact is skipped automatically.

You may see log entries labeled “skipped: inbound guard active” for a contact shortly after a webhook was received. This is expected, not an error.

The ContactCreate outbound guard

When the plugin creates a new WordPress user in response to a ContactCreate webhook, it suppresses the resulting user_register hook from firing an outbound sync, preventing the loop at the point of user creation.

No configuration needed

Both guards are always active.
